sizes 10 to 22
size 10: waist 25 inches, hips 34 1/2
size 12: waist 26 1/2 inches, hips 36 inches
size 14: waist 28 inches, hips 38 inches
size 16: waist 30 inches, hips 40 inches
size 18: waist 32 inches, hips 42 inches
size 20: waist 34 inches, hips 44 inches
size 22: waist 37 inches, hips 46 inches
#1 Step One: find size and cut as directed for the top tier and then cut the following tiers in section 2
size 10 * top tier 13 inches by 23 inches *cut 2
size 12* top tier 13 inches by 23 1/5 inches *cut 2
size 14* top tier 13 inches by 24 inches *cut 2
size 16* top tier 13 inches by 24 1/2 inches *cut 2
size 18* top tier 13 inches by 25 inches *cut 2
size 20 * top tier 13 inches by 25 1/2 inches *cut 2
size 22* top tier 13 inches by 26 inches *cut 2
#2 Step two: All sizes cut the following:
2nd ruffle 8 inches by 35 inches * cut 2
3rd ruffle 8 inches by 45 inches * cut 3
4th ruffle 9 inches by 45 inches * cut 4
5th ruffle 6 inches by 45 inches * cut 6
#3 step three: prepare fabric, prewash, dry, iron if needed and fold in half lengthwise with selvages together. Cut all peices for the 5 tiers, labeling as you cut each section.
#4 step four: pin sides together of top tier, sew using 5/8 inch seam allowance. edge finish if desired. I trim seam and use a small zigzag
#5 step five: pin sides together of 2nd tier, sew sides using 5/8 inch seam allowance, finish seam allowance. On top of the tier sew gathering stitches using longest stitch length on one side leaving a long tail of thread at beginning and end of stitching. Sew other side the same way. Turn first tier right side out and with second ruffle right side facing in, pin sides together with upper edge of ruffle to lower edge of the top tier and then very carefully pull gathering threads to gather the 2nd ruffle to fit the first tier. tie off gathering threads, or wrap around the straight pin to secure. Using 3.5 stitch length and straight stitch, sew along entire seam at 5/8 inch and again at 1/4 inch. edge finish if desired, I use a small zigzag stitch
#6 step 6: repeat step 5 to add all layers of ruffle tiers to skirt
#7 step 7: measure and press hem, stitch in place
#8 step 8: waistband casing. turn under 1 inch, and then turn under raw edge 1/4 inch, press and stitch close to lower edge leaving an opening to insert the elastic.
#9 step 9 measure elastic to fit waist, using a safety pin, insert elastic, pulling all the way through, overlap edges of elastic and stitch in place. Sew opening closed. pull waistband out full to distribute elastic and fabric evenly, stitch through the casing at side seams to secure elastic and prevent twisting while wearing.
